Interview: Cubeia’s Nano Platform and the Future of Crypto Casinos – Caroline Björkman on Innovation and Growth

Abigail Welch

Cubeia has been developing iGaming technology for nearly two decades, built on a product-first approach that prioritises performance, stability and innovation. Today, that vision is delivered through a connected ecosystem that includes Cubeia Nano, its flagship turnkey casino platform; Cubeia Poker 2.0; and Cubeia Originals, a portfolio of exclusive branded games.

At the centre of it all is Nano, the platform on which operators launch, scale and unify their casino experience. Recently named Best Crypto Casino Platform at the SiGMA Americas Awards 2025, Nano is designed to combine rapid deployment with deep flexibility and robust infrastructure.

In this interview, Caroline Björkman, Head of Sales at Cubeia, discusses how Nano supports fast operator launches, scalable architecture, extensive game and payment integration, and built-in tools for CRM, affiliates and analytics in the evolving crypto iGaming market.

**1\. For readers new to Cubeia, can you introduce the company and explain where Nano fits within your wider product ecosystem?**

Cubeia has been building games and systems for the iGaming industry since 2007, and our philosophy has always been product-first, if the technology isn't genuinely excellent, nothing else matters. Today we operate across three interconnected products: Cubeia Nano, our flagship turnkey casino platform; Cubeia Poker 2.0, a next-generation poker room built for network play and high-stakes engagement; and Cubeia Originals, our portfolio of fully proprietary branded games that operators can offer exclusively on their sites. Nano sits at the heart of that ecosystem, it's the platform operators launch on, and it's the canvas on which Poker and Originals are built into a cohesive, branded player experience. We were particularly proud to win Best Crypto Casino Platform at the SiGMA Americas Awards in 2025, which validated the direction we've been building toward for several years.

**2\. Cubeia Nano promotes a rapid time-to-market. What does a typical launch look like, and how do you support operators through onboarding and configuration?**

From signed agreement to go-live, we target six to eight weeks, and that's not a marketing number, it's what we consistently deliver. The process begins immediately after contract signature: our Customer Success team works alongside the operator to configure lobbies, integrate payment methods, set up bonus structures, onboard game providers, configure the affiliate system, and apply brand skinning. We don't hand operators a set of documentation and wish them luck; we treat the launch as a shared project where our team handles the heavy lifting so the operator's team can focus on their commercial and marketing preparation. The platform is installed on the operator's own cloud environment, typically AWS, which also means they're not waiting on shared infrastructure and can scale independently from day one. The speed is real, and it's only possible because we've refined the process over many launches.

**3\. Speed, simplicity and scalability are core to Nano. How have you engineered the platform to deliver fast performance while supporting growth across multiple markets?**

Nano is built on a modern microservices architecture, which means each component of the platform scales independently rather than the whole system needing to be scaled as one. This makes it both highly resilient and extraordinarily efficient to grow, if player volumes surge on your sportsbook, that component scales without touching your casino or payments layer. We deploy on AWS as standard, which gives operators proven, globally distributed infrastructure with the redundancy and security that a serious iGaming operation demands. Our deployment pipelines support zero-downtime releases, so operators can push updates without player-facing disruption. Every element of the client is optimised for fast loading and responsiveness across the entire user journey, from the lobby to a game launch to a withdrawal, because we know that even small friction points translate directly into player drop-off. Multilingual and multi-currency capabilities are baked in from the ground up, not bolted on, which means expanding into a new market doesn't require a platform rebuild.

**4\. With access to 12,000+ games across casino, live casino, sportsbook, and poker, how does Cubeia balance content flexibility with platform stability?**

The short answer is that we don't treat content integration as an afterthought, it's a core part of the platform architecture. All 12,000-plus games from providers including Evolution, Pragmatic Play, NetEnt, Play'n GO, ELK, Kalamba, No Limit City, and many others are available out of the box through our unified integration layer, which insulates the rest of the platform from any individual provider's changes or instability. Operators also have full lobby management tools, allowing them to configure which games are displayed, how they're categorised, and which are available by market or country , this is critical for compliance as well as commercial strategy. We also support remote game servers, so operators who have proprietary or exclusive titles can integrate those alongside the main library without any special engineering work on their side. The sportsbook and poker verticals are treated the same way, they're modular additions that slot cleanly into the platform rather than forcing architectural compromises.

**5\. Payments are a major differentiator in crypto iGaming. Can you outline Nano's crypto and fiat capabilities, including Lightning Network, stablecoins, on-ramps and instant withdrawals?**

Payments are arguably where we've invested the most, because in crypto iGaming, a poor payment experience can single-handedly destroy player trust. On the crypto side, Nano natively supports Bitcoin, Bitcoin Lightning Network, Ethereum, USDT and USDC across Ethereum, TRON and BSC networks, and Solana, and through PaymentIQ we give operators access to over 1,200 cryptocurrency coins and tokens. We have an embedded on-ramp solution that allows players to purchase crypto directly using a credit card within the platform, which massively reduces the barrier to entry for players who are crypto-curious but not yet fully self-sufficient. On the fiat side, PaymentIQ is included as standard, giving operators access to an enormous range of regional and international payment methods, cards, bank transfers, eWallets, local banking solutions, and more, spanning virtually every territory an operator might want to enter. Instant withdrawals are configurable within the platform and make a significant difference to player satisfaction and trust. In our experience, the operators who prioritise fast withdrawals retain players meaningfully longer than those who don't.

**6\. Nano offers highly configurable bonuses and rewards. How much control do operators have over mechanics such as parachute bonuses, cashback, rakeback and custom turnover rules?**

The bonus engine is one of the most flexible we've built, and operators have granular control over every meaningful variable. Parachute bonuses, where the player receives the bonus upfront to their balance, can be configured with direct or deferred turnover rules; the direct turnover variant is particularly popular in Asian markets and we've made sure it works exactly as operators in those markets expect. Bounty or Locked bonuses, where the bonus is held until a turnover requirement is met, are fully configurable in terms of the requirement threshold, the contribution rates by product type and game category, and the payout mechanics. Cashback and rakeback both work on percentage return models, with full flexibility on the calculation period, eligible activity, and payout timing. On top of that, operators can run free spins rewards, player-choice reward campaigns, and multi-tier loyalty level programmes, all triggered either by deposit counts, specific player actions, or through CRM-driven campaigns. The important thing is that none of this requires Cubeia involvement to configure; operators manage it all through the back office.

**7\. Reporting and BI are increasingly critical for decision-making. How do Nano's real-time dashboards and custom reporting tools help operators identify trends, optimise performance and drive revenue?**

We've taken a deliberately layered approach to business intelligence, because different people in an operator's organisation need different things from their data. At the operational level, Nano's back office includes a highly customisable real-time reporting engine where operators can build their own dashboards and reports, monitor deposits, withdrawals, GGR, margins, bonus usage, and player activity, and schedule automated report delivery by email. For deeper product and player analytics, we integrate Amplitude, which provides advanced funnel tracking, retention analysis, and player lifecycle data, the kind of insight that informs product decisions and identifies where in the journey players are dropping off. For teams who want SQL-level flexibility, we include Metabase, an open-source BI tool that allows both technical and non-technical users to query the data warehouse and build custom visualisations. The combination of these three layers means operators have everything from an instant operational pulse to deep strategic analytics, all connected to the same underlying data.

**8\. Customisation plays a big role in brand differentiation. What flexibility does Nano offer across sign-up flows, lobbies, skinning, languages and front-end experiences?**

We're very deliberate about giving operators genuine creative control, because a casino that looks and feels like a platform is a much harder sell to players than one that has a strong, coherent brand identity. Sign-up flows are configurable, operators can adapt the registration journey to match their compliance requirements and  brand tone. Lobby design is fully managed through the back office, with control over game categories, featured content, layout, and availability by market or player segment. Skinning is done through standard CSS, which means operators' own design teams can implement a complete look-and-feel transformation without needing Cubeia's involvement for every change. We currently support more than ten languages with more being added, and multi-currency is handled natively so the experience for a player in Brazil feels no different to one in Germany in terms of smoothness. We also include Freshchat integration for B2C live support, which can be configured to match the operator's brand and support team structure.

**9\. Affiliate acquisition remains vital for growth. What makes Nano's integrated Affiliate & Agent System stand out?**

The most important word there is "integrated", the affiliate system is built directly into the Nano platform and back office, which means there's no third-party tool to maintain, no data sync issues, and no delay between player activity and commission calculation. Operators can run revenue share, CPA, and hybrid commission models, and configure different rates at the individual affiliate level. Affiliates themselves have access to a self-service portal where they can generate tracking links, monitor conversion performance, and request payouts , without needing to go through the operator's team for routine tasks. Payouts can be made in fiat currency or directly to a Bitcoin address, which is a significant advantage for operators with affiliate networks that operate in crypto-first environments. The system also supports full agent hierarchies, so operators running multi-level referral or regional representative structures can manage sub-affiliates and revenue splits cleanly within the same tool.

**10\. Player retention is becoming more data-driven. How does Nano's built-in CRM and automation support targeted campaigns and long-term player value?**

The CRM layer in Nano is powered by Customer.io, which is a best-in-class marketing automation platform, operators get the full capability of an enterprise CRM without needing to procure, configure, and integrate one independently. Player profiles are built automatically from registration and ongoing activity, and operators can create segments based on behaviour, deposit activity, KYC status, tags, and any combination of attributes. The workflow editor allows non-technical staff to build sophisticated automated journeys , for example, triggering a free spins reward for players who haven't deposited in seven days, or sending an SMS campaign to high-value players before a major sports event. Rewards including free spins, cash bonuses, and deposit bonuses can all be fired directly from within a workflow via webhook, so the CRM and the platform's bonus engine operate as a single system rather than two disconnected tools. Email campaigns include a visual drag-and-drop editor and multi-language support, and campaign analytics are built in so operators can see open rates, conversion, and revenue impact in real time.

**11\. Cubeia highlights strong B2B support and data ownership. How does your customer success team work with operators post-launch?**

Our Customer Success team operates 24/7 and works through a direct chat channel, not a traditional ticket system, which means operators get real-time access to a Cubeia specialist when something needs attention, rather than waiting hours for a first response. Post-launch, the team is actively involved in helping operators get the most from the platform: lobby optimisation, bonus strategy, affiliate programme setup, fraud prevention configuration, CRM campaign review, and player retention strategy all fall within what we work on together. We use JIRA for structured case and task management on our side, but the operator never needs to interact with that, they just communicate through the direct channel and we handle the coordination internally. The data ownership model reinforces this relationship: because the platform is installed on the operator's own cloud account, they own their player database and infrastructure completely, and can make their own backups and interface directly with the system if they choose. A source code licence is also available for operators who want the deepest level of independence. We genuinely believe our long-term success depends on our customers' success, and the support model is built to reflect that.

**12\. Looking ahead, what's next for Cubeia Nano, and how are you preparing partners for the evolving crypto iGaming landscape in 2026 and beyond?**

The most significant near-term addition is our Responsible Gambling module, arriving in Q4, which will include self-exclusion, deposit limits, wagering limits, and loss limits, all seamlessly integrated into the platform. This is increasingly important not only for operators in regulated markets but for any operator who wants to build a sustainable, trustworthy brand rather than one that extracts short-term value at the cost of player wellbeing. More broadly, the crypto iGaming landscape is maturing rapidly: regulators are paying closer attention, players are more sophisticated, and the bar for what constitutes a premium experience has risen significantly. Our focus for 2026 is on helping our partners stay ahead of that curve, through deeper analytics capability, an expanding game library, continued payment infrastructure investment, and the kind of flexibility that lets operators adapt to new markets and new regulatory environments without having to re-platform. We're also continuing to develop Cubeia Originals as a differentiation layer for Nano operators, because in an increasingly competitive market, exclusive content that builds genuine brand loyalty is one of the most powerful tools an operator can have. The operators who will win in crypto iGaming over the next three to five years are those who combine a technically excellent platform with a compelling and distinctive player experience , and that's precisely what we're building together with our partners.
