Alchemy Pay Integrates Crypto Payments Into Telegram’s Walt App

The integration, announced on November 3, connects Alchemy Pay's global payment infrastructure with Walt, a cryptocurrency application backed by The Open Platform. Users can access payment options including Visa, Mastercard, mobile wallets and local bank transfers without needing to purchase digital assets through a separate cryptocurrency exchange.

Alchemy Pay supports more than 50 traditional currencies and over 300 payment channels across its international network, although individual payment methods remain subject to regional availability. The partnership forms part of Walt's continued expansion beyond cryptocurrency storage and trading, bringing additional financial services into the Telegram ecosystem.

Alchemy Pay Expands Cryptocurrency Access Across 173 Countries

The integration allows Walt customers to purchase supported cryptocurrencies using traditional currencies through Alchemy Pay's fiat on-ramp infrastructure. Users can also access off-ramp services that convert eligible digital assets back into conventional money, providing a more direct connection between cryptocurrency holdings and established payment systems.

Previously, customers seeking to fund their Walt accounts through certain payment methods could be required to purchase cryptocurrency elsewhere before transferring the assets into the application. The new arrangement simplifies that process by incorporating payment services into the existing platform, reducing the number of separate applications and transactions required.

Alchemy Pay's payment infrastructure connects international card networks with local banking and mobile payment systems, allowing users to select from available methods depending on their country. Support for more than 50 fiat currencies is intended to make cryptocurrency purchases accessible across a broad range of markets, although transaction limits, fees and verification requirements may differ between jurisdictions.

The partnership also provides Alchemy Pay with another distribution channel for its cryptocurrency payment technology, expanding its presence within Telegram's growing digital asset ecosystem. The company has increasingly focused on integrating traditional financial services into cryptocurrency applications, allowing customers to move between fiat currencies and blockchain-based assets.

Walt Expands Beyond Cryptocurrency Storage And Transfers

Walt, previously known as Wallet in Telegram, adopted its current branding on September 28 as part of a wider expansion of its cryptocurrency services. Originally focused on basic transactions involving Bitcoin and Toncoin, the platform has developed into a broader digital asset application offering trading, investment products and decentralised finance services.

The application supports more than 300 cryptocurrencies across four blockchain networks, with trading available for over 200 assets. Its wider offering includes tokenised stocks, exchange-traded funds, precious metals, yield-generating products and perpetual futures contracts, reflecting growing demand for financial services accessible through messaging applications.

In October, Walt introduced artificial intelligence-assisted trading for perpetual futures, enabling users to interact with trading functions through AI assistants including ChatGPT, Claude and Mira. The technology allows connected AI agents to review market information, assess existing positions and execute transactions according to instructions provided by users.

The development followed Walt's introduction of perpetual futures trading through Lighter in April, which expanded the platform into leveraged cryptocurrency products. Earlier in the year, the company also introduced decentralised finance services offering on-chain yield opportunities for Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDT, further extending its financial capabilities.

Walt founder and CEO Andrew Rogozov has outlined additional plans involving cryptocurrency payment cards and artificial intelligence tools. The integration with Alchemy Pay supports that broader strategy by making it easier for customers to access digital assets through familiar payment methods.

Walt Operates Separately From Telegram’s Native Wallet

Although Walt operates within Telegram, it is distinct from the messaging platform's own cryptocurrency wallet service, now known as Money. Walt is backed by The Open Platform and provides a custodial service, meaning the application manages customers' private keys and digital assets on their behalf.

Telegram's Money wallet operates on a non-custodial basis, allowing users to maintain direct control over their cryptocurrency holdings. The distinction affects how assets are managed, with custodial services relying on the platform's security and operational arrangements, while non-custodial wallets place greater responsibility for protecting private keys on individual users.

Walt remains accessible through its dedicated Telegram account, @walt, while the previous @wallet address continues to direct users towards the service. Existing customers retained their account balances, transaction histories and wallet addresses following September's rebrand, without needing to register again or repeat identity verification procedures.

The company has indicated that Walt and Money can operate alongside one another, with customers able to use Walt's services to add funds to Telegram's native wallet. This arrangement provides different options for users seeking either managed cryptocurrency services or greater control over their digital assets.

Partnership Builds On Alchemy Pay’s Global Expansion

The agreement strengthens Alchemy Pay's existing relationship with blockchain services associated with Telegram. In September 2024, the company introduced cryptocurrency payment capabilities through The Open Network (TON), establishing an earlier connection with the blockchain ecosystem closely associated with the messaging platform.

Alchemy Pay subsequently expanded its services through partnerships with established cryptocurrency businesses, including a March 2025 agreement with hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger. That integration brought fiat-to-crypto and crypto-to-fiat payment capabilities into Ledger Live, allowing customers to purchase and sell supported digital assets through conventional payment methods.

The company also entered the tokenised investment market in September 2025 through a partnership with xStocks, introducing access to more than 60 tokenised US equities and exchange-traded funds. The offering supported fractional investments starting from $1, with funding available through bank transfers, payment cards and mobile payment services.

Alchemy Pay has continued developing its international regulatory presence alongside these commercial partnerships. According to the company, it holds 19 US Money Transmitter Licences, together with regulatory authorisations and registrations across several markets in Southeast Asia, South Korea, Europe and the UK.

The latest integration reflects the growing convergence between cryptocurrency platforms and traditional payment infrastructure, particularly as digital asset providers seek to simplify access for customers unfamiliar with conventional exchanges. By incorporating Alchemy Pay's services directly into Walt, the companies aim to reduce barriers to cryptocurrency transactions while expanding the range of financial products available through Telegram.
